Glossop SNT - Volunteers Needed!

Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a national initiative where volunteers, supported by local police, monitor and record vehicle speeds in areas of concern. It aims to improve road safety, educate drivers, and reduce speed-related issues. 

Volunteers use approved devices, wear high-visibility clothing, and report data to police.

Key details regarding the initiative include:

Process: Volunteers monitor traffic from safe, approved locations, recording the speed, make, model, and registration of vehicles violating limits.

Action Taken: Data is sent to the local police, who send warning letters to the registered keepers of vehicles.

Purpose: The primary goal is education and deterrence rather than direct enforcement.

Requirements: Volunteers are trained by the police and must wear high-visibility vests.

Setup: The initiative is often initiated by town or parish councils in response to community concerns about speeding.
